The Tauranga Festival of Performing Arts is an annual event celebrating local talent from the Bay of Plenty region. The festival is run in competition format with young people competing to win substantial scholarships and grants. Each day there are 3 sessions, with all performances are open to the public. Each event is a gold coin donation and is great school holiday entertainment. The event is held over 2 weeks culminating in a big final night. The final is a ticketed event.
Performing Arts Categories
The disciplines cover all manner of performaing arts excompassing Singing, Speech and Drama, Instrumental, Piano, and many forms of dance including Highland, Tap Dancing, Ballet and Modern Dance.There are various age brackets that can be entered under indlucing under 9 years, and all the way up to 20 years of age. Prizes consist of cash, cups, trophies and scholarships for the winners.
2013 will be the 56th Annual competition. The festival is a charity and is run by the Tauranga Performing Arts Competitions Society. It is made possible by donations from local businesses.
