Also known as simply the Garden & Arts Fest, the event showcases the best gardens from around Tauranga, Katikati, Mount Maunganui and Te Puke. Last years event was a big one with over 50 private gardens open to the public. The event is ticketed and spectators receive a trail map and souvenir booklet. Held over 10 days, all gardens are open Friday to Sunday. During the week each of the 4 local areas has it’s open day where you can see all the gardens in that area.
Not just gardens, the festival incorporates a large artisitc element. The Sculpture Symposium is a week long live event where up to 15 sculptors work their magic on Tauranga’s waterfront. You can check in on their progress daily to see works of art come alive by event end. If the gardens and live sculpture are not enough to keep you entertained then there are speakers and workshops to take part in. A variety of local and international speakers share their love for gardens and landscapes. In the workshops, learn tips on creating a masterpiece, to simply making your garden at home more presentable.
