Location: Wharepai Domain, Tauranga
Dates: 2016 = FESTIVAL YEAR OFF
Every Summer, a very special event travels the whole country. The Winery Tour (also known as the Classic Hits Winery Tour) visits up to 17 locations New Zealand wide, marrying local music with stunning kiwi scenery. The event is held in the warmest months of the year, February and March.
The three tenets of the event are local music, local wine and local scenery. It’s 100% kiwi music on the bill, including a good mix of new artists and old favourites. No matter the location, the event has a predictable show format: Gates open at 5pm, Show starts at 6pm, Show ends at 10pm.
For the most part there are three bands, or artists on the bill. In years past we’ve seen the who’s who of NZ music. Brooke Fraser, The Mutton Birds, Dave Dobbyn, Anika Moa, Fat Freddy’s Drop and probably any other major act you can think of.
This is NZ’s largest tour, and being outdoors makes it all the more special. The tour venues essentially stay the same each year, so you won’t get lost from year to year. While the Tauranga event is unfortunately not held at a winery, the beautiful Wharepai Domain is right beside the sea here in Tauranga. The event is a great way to experience a kiwi day out, with kiwi music, kiwi wine and beautiful kiwi surroundings.
Ticket prices are in the $70 range. We will announce more details about the 2014 Tauranga show as they come to hand.
