Nautilus Cafe

Get nautical! You can count on the fingers of one hand true harbourside cafes or eateries where you can drink in the water-‘n-boats atmosphere…but Nautilus Cafe occupies one of the more unique and appealing spots.The cafe is on the ground floor of the five-storey apartment complex of the same name, a stone’s throw from the launching ramp at Sulphur Point.

The café is right beside the canal that leads to the Nautilus apartment’s boat storage facility. This makes it perfect for boat-spotting: it’s a long skinny café with a ship-like wooden walkway overlooking the canal, equipped with sun umbrellas, and outdoor seating. The front of the café opens onto a courtyard with unobstructed views way down harbour past Matakana Island. It’s a stylish café by day, with casual dining by night.
